Kings of Leon s'est formé en l'an 2000 à Nashville (Tennessee) autour des frères Caleb Followill (guitare), Nathan Followill (batterie), Jared Followill (basse) et de leur cousin Matthew Followill (guitare). En 2001, la formation décroche un contrat chez RCA. Deux ans plus tard, Kings of Leon sort son premier maxi Holy Roller Novocaine. Dans la foulée, il tourne aux Etats-Unis et en Angleterre puis signe son premier album Youth & Young Manhood. En 2004, Kings of Leon revient avec Aha Shake Heartbreak produit par Ethan Johns. En 2007, le groupe sort son troisième opus Because of the Times. L'année suivante, il revient avec un nouvel album intitulé Only by the Night. Suit Live at the O2 (2009).
